Biography


Walker is regarded as one of the fine prospects progressing through the Giants development system and will be looking to kick on in 2012 after first team appearances against Salford and Hull KR in 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Aged only 20, Walker has many years ahead of him to mature into the role of prop forward and his dual-registration loan at Barrow Raiders last year will certainly have helped. He went on to play on 14 occasions for the Co-Operative Championship side and will be hoping for more Super League appearances under his belt in 2012. This could well be the case as the injuries sustained by fellow forwards in the team during pre-season could well provide a pathway for Walker in the opening weeks of the season and will give him the chance to shine.

Could do with a couple more in the pack. Watts, Wheeldon, Clinton, Taylor, Netherton, Galea, Petersen & Murrell out & only Tuimavave & Paterson in has left us pretty short on numbers.

to be fair watts and wheeldon went mid season and peterson only played a couple of games so your making it sound worse than it is

IMO Rovers could do with another prop, whether Walker is the answer only time will tell. He's a big unit and been in the shadow of the Giants front rowers (O'donnell, Crabtree, Mason).

Is Keal Carlile still about,i know hes still under contract but we dont hear a great deal about the lad!

Listed as Huddersfield's 'young gun' in RLW's preview of the 2012 season. Tbh though that's just about the only place I recall seeing his name mentioned. A decent alternative to the fringe players at Wigan we presumably failed to attract, I'd guess based on very superficial knowledge. Another option with potential, but we are going to be a bit raw next year, so I hope people are prepared to be patient.
Tbf we brought Sandercock in on a prospectus of developing players and building a new culture at the club, as long as we realise that takes time, it could be positive - in the medium term.
I'm not about to have a Damascene conversion to Smokey-ism, and I do worry about getting stuck in the Cas trap - but given the shortage of both experienced available talent and cash to splash it is probably Hobson's.

Adam Walker played a few games at the start of last season and did well, he should probably have played more. His season was ended early through injury. He is big and strong but did not do huge minutes. I would say he was still part prospect, but a prospect who has to play a good number of games this year.

My view is that he will become a decent Super League prop, not a superstar but a big workhorse that all teams need. I certainly hope he goes well and fulfills his potential, I liked him at Huddersfield.

Hopefully turn out to be an astute signing by Craig but only time will tell, the same with all the signings he has made, every coach is judge on his recruitment ! Like i have stated many times on here a NO.1 and another experienced forward needed for us to be competative!

Can't imagine the fee would have been too high. Hopefully hell go well.
