ZigOr thane:
If the quota dispensation does come in, it would make Signing Satae even better as he would be one of the players coming off the quota.
But Burgess might not be interested in him anyway so might just be all wishful thinking. And to be fair i've barely watched any Catalans games this year or last, so i don't know if he's still as good and effective as he used to be??
Just out of interest who does everyone think will definately go next year?
Musgrove is improving so may be re-signed, just hope it's not an improvement as he's trying to get a new contract, and i'm unsure on Tai. Although he isn't the best with his attack he's still a good centre, if Burgess is set on Lindop long term he might let him go, but he might keep him another year to help Lindop develop more and not burn him out too soon?
And Dan Russell, i think unless a class second rower becomes available i think he will still be here next year, although i hope Holroyd is earmarked long term. He's still young and will develop a bit more size through the years to help him prolong his playing career.
And Oli Leyland, it seem Burgess has no confidence in him at all, so who knows.
I also think unless Wrench bursts back on the scene and is undroppable, and gets a long run of games i don't think we'll re-sign him.
And i think King warrants re-signing, but odd that we haven't already.
Russell has a 2 year deal 2025 and 2026 unless a loan deal / transfer is arranged.
Leyland has a 2 year deal 2025 and 2026 unless a loan deal / transfer is arranged.
Johnson has a 2 year deal 2025 and 2026 unless a loan deal / transfer is arranged.
King - re-sign as he costs peanuts on the cap and to replace him would cost a lot more. But we need a strike centre on the other side if going this way. King + Tai is too limited.
Vaughan - re-sign. Our best prop. We dip when he goes off, and rise when he comes on.
Musgrove - has improved, could be motivated by new contract, who knows. I hope the club are looking to see if there are more effective quota alternatives before re-signing.
Tai - likeable player, probably our one player that openly revels in hitting hard in the tackles. But he is very limited in his attacking play and nullifies his winger usually by running diagonally to the touchline, cutting back in and being tackled. Valuable quota place.
Wrench - said it before, surely he has to show this season that all the potential has a chance of becoming reality. Made his debut 5 years ago and managed 37 games for us in those 5 years (+3 on loan). He'll be 24 at the end of the season approaching halfway in his career, not like he is 19.
Crowther - we can definitely improve in this position. He's been poor this year.
Ratchford - who knows what will happen/has happened. Defies logic.
Sam Powell - a decent signing and done well for us, but I think age is catching up now.
The thing is, I would be OK with all of the above leaving, with the exception of Vaughan. Says a lot.
