Is this a RFL requirement now? Seems to be pitchside electronic advertising at all Super League grounds this season.

Elonex are an RFL sponsor now, so they're at all the televised games as part of the deal. Not sure if they're at the non-televised games though.
Think it makes the game look far more professional personally, so it's a great move.

You are correct, but they will eventually be fully installed at all SL grounds for all games - the advertising on these is centralised (there were a number of central adverts already in place for the last couple of years). It brings in greater revenue to the clubs over the course of a year and means that ground staff do not have to keep updating boards depending on the competition thats taking place (IE there are different adverts for the cup than the league, but there are also additional requirements for televised games).

Are these signs rented then (i.e. they're just brought for the match day) or do the grounds get to keep them as part of the deal?

I'm thinking in terms of clubs that share grounds. Different sponsors for cup, league, etc. as well as different for football and rugby.

Wigan probably already had them because Wigan Athletic are in the Premier League although they mightn't have been Elonex.

looks a bit dangerous to me, i think the ad boards at the dw were changed to foam pads as they were lethal at one point, this puts it as a hard fixture for players to go into.

All televised SL and Challenge Cup games will have the boards this year and each SL stadium will be fitted with permanent boards over the next two years.

I think superleague own one set and they follow the sky vans about, hence why the set switched on at Headingley on friday were advertising the Warrington club shop

That isn't true, as our first home game against London wasn't on Sky and we still had LED boards down both sidelines.
